Bale Fruit (Ma-toom, Ma-tum) (AEGLE MARMELOS)
This fruit grows on tall trees and resembles a round ball with a hard skin which turns from green to yellow when ripe. It is most commonly candied or dried rather than eaten fresh. The unripe fruit has astringent and tonic properties, and the ripe fruit is a mild laxative. Though the fruit can be eaten raw, it is usually sliced and candied or dried and drunk as a health drink.
