50 and 100 litre oak wine barrels are produced in small quantity in
our workshop. Quality oak wood may be found in the Hromszk basin,
we only need to look for them and process them. In the oak wood
there are substances, which aid the fermentation of the wine and
enrich its flavour. The flavour can be influenced, because the
cooper toasts” the inner side of the barrel as he is asked to, and
with the toasting” the flavor of the wine may be intensified.
The toasting” of a barrel's inner wall is a remarkable process. The
cooper lights a fire inside the barrel heating it up so that its
inner wall gets charred and receives a colour that may vary from
fawn to black (if the barrel is produced for maturing red wine).
These barrels intensify the flavor of the wine, they are popular
and in these days they are used more and more frequently.
Unfortunately their disadvantage is that they are used only for a
short time, because the wonderful charred taste fades.
As I have mentioned before, we produce such barrels only in small
quantities, our goal isn’t the production of large barrels. Large
companies are specialised in this field, it is not possible for us
to compete with them. Our objective is that each of our barrels
should get to the right owner, who appreciates them, for every
single barrel with its own purity is made with the purpose that it
receives a place in our customer’s wine cellar.
